Thailand Sales Team: Uniting Thailand’s Strengths to Unlock Global Opportunities

In today’s global competitive landscape, Thailand has far more than a single strength to offer, and the audiences the country seeks to engage have very different priorities. Travellers look for memorable experiences, international buyers seek products and services, investors look for potential and long-term confidence, while global event organisers look beyond venues to the industries, talent, infrastructure and ecosystems that can help their events achieve their objectives.

In today’s global competitive landscape, Thailand has far more than a single strength to offer, and the audiences the country seeks to engage have very different priorities.

Travellers look for memorable experiences. International buyers seek products and services. Investors look for potential, supportive policies and long-term confidence. Global event organisers, meanwhile, look beyond venues to consider the industries, talent, supporting agencies, infrastructure and ecosystems that can help their events achieve their objectives.

The concept of the “Thailand Sales Team” brings together the expertise of multiple agencies and sectors, turning the country’s strengths into opportunities across tourism, trade, investment and international events. Each organisation has a distinct role, but all work towards a shared goal.

For the MICE industry, TCEB serves as Thailand’s National Bidder, leading efforts to secure international conventions, exhibitions, festivals and global mega events for the country.

TCEB brings together the capabilities of government agencies, the private sector, host cities, universities, professional associations, businesses and relevant industry networks to form a unified national proposition.

What Thailand offers is therefore more than a place to hold an event. It is a platform that connects buyers, investors, experts, industry leaders and global networks with opportunities in trade, investment, knowledge exchange and talent development in Thailand.

Different Roles, One Thailand Proposition

At the heart of the Thailand Sales Team is the ability to connect the expertise of agencies across different areas of the economy and turn the country’s potential into opportunities in tourism, trade, investment and international events.

Each organisation plays a clearly defined and complementary role.

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)

TAT stimulates travel demand and promotes the experiences that make a visit to Thailand distinctive and memorable.

Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP)

DITP promotes Thai products and services, opening channels for trade, business opportunities and exports to global markets.

Thailand Board of Investment (BOI)

BOI promotes and attracts investment into Thailand through investment incentives and facilitation services, supporting the country’s transition towards a new economy.

Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO)

EECO drives the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor, or EEC, by integrating infrastructure, cities, industries, technology and the local economy, while supporting communities to grow alongside future industries and major development projects in a sustainable manner.

TCEB

TCEB serves as Thailand’s National Bidder, working to attract international conventions, exhibitions, festivals and global mega events to the country.

Its role is to bring together Thailand’s capabilities across the public sector, industry, professional associations, host cities, businesses and relevant networks into a unified national proposition.

This helps build confidence among international event organisers while allowing events hosted in Thailand to generate wider opportunities in trade, investment, knowledge exchange and talent development.

The Thailand Sales Team is therefore not about different agencies performing the same function. It is about connecting and passing opportunities from one area to another.

Tourism generates travel demand. International trade opens markets. Investment promotion connects investors with Thailand’s potential. EEC development links opportunities with locations and target industries, while TCEB brings global platforms into the country and connects them with these strengths.

Thailand Offers More Than Venues: It Offers an Ecosystem

For international event organisers, a venue is only one part of destination readiness.

Large-scale events also depend on air connectivity, transport systems, hotels, logistics, professional event organisers, technology and a skilled workforce capable of supporting participants from around the world.

For specialised events, the strength of the relevant industry ecosystem carries even greater weight.

Energy events need connections with energy agencies, businesses, investors and policymakers. Robotics and artificial intelligence events need access to universities, researchers, manufacturers and technology companies. Events in food, healthcare or the creative economy require their own specialised knowledge and networks.

Thailand’s readiness therefore lies not in the number of venues it can list, but in the access it can provide to people, industries, knowledge, markets and networks relevant to an event’s objectives.

At the same time, culture, cuisine, local communities and destination experiences add another layer of distinction to the participant journey, from gala functions and incentive travel to study visits and networking activities.

Thailand therefore offers not simply venues, but an ecosystem capable of connecting an event directly with the people, industries, knowledge and experiences that support its objectives.

Gastech 2026: Bringing Government and Industry onto the Same Global Stage

Gastech 2026 clearly illustrates how the Thailand Sales Team works in practice.

Preparing Thailand to host the event involves much more than providing a venue. It brings together TCEB, the Ministry of Energy, energy-related agencies, industry players and the international organiser to connect the event with Thailand’s and the region’s energy priorities.

Scheduled to take place in Bangkok from 14 to 17 September 2026, Gastech 2026 is expected to welcome more than 50,000 energy professionals, over 1,000 exhibitors and around 1,000 speakers from more than 150 countries.

Its scope ranges from liquefied natural gas, or LNG, and power generation to low-carbon technologies, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.

The value of the event therefore goes beyond its scale. It brings global policymakers, investors, experts and industry networks into direct contact with Thailand’s policies, investment projects and business opportunities in one place.

TCEB estimates that Gastech 2026 will generate at least THB 14.62 billion in economic impact for Thailand, while also serving as an important reference point that strengthens international confidence in the country’s ability to host major global industry events.

IEEE ICRA 2030: Connecting Knowledge, Industry and MICE

Another example is Thailand’s successful bid to host the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, or IEEE ICRA 2030.

It will mark the first time this leading global conference on robotics, artificial intelligence and automation is held in Thailand.

The bid was a collaborative effort involving TCEB, the Faculty of Engineering at Mahidol University, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Thailand Chapter and IEEE Thailand Section.

The event is expected to attract approximately 10,000 participants, around 8,000 of whom will come from overseas.

Thailand’s proposition draws on its automotive, electronics and automation industries, together with its network of universities, laboratories and research centres, as well as the country’s direction in artificial intelligence and future industries.

These strengths allow the event to connect simultaneously with research, technology transfer, investment and talent development.

The case demonstrates that when competing with leading host cities around the world, academic and industrial capabilities can carry as much weight as venue readiness. The stronger the collaboration among relevant organisations, the clearer the case for choosing Thailand becomes.

From the EEC to Opportunities Connecting Cities, Industries and Communities

The work of the Thailand Sales Team is not limited to the bidding stage.

Collaboration can extend from destination development to using events as a tool to support local economies and industries.

Cooperation between TCEB and EECO is one example. In 2026, the two organisations signed an agreement to use the MICE industry to support investment and development in the EEC, which has strong foundations in medical industries, digital technology, next-generation automotive industries, the Bio-Circular-Green Economy and services.

Under this cooperation, conventions and exhibitions can be linked with Business Matching, industry study visits and Factory Visits.

Products, services and communities in the area can also become part of the MICE experience, allowing opportunities created through business travel to reach a wider range of local businesses and communities.

Connecting Local Strengths to Global Opportunities

Another important role of the Thailand Sales Team is to bring the strengths of different regions into the story Thailand presents to global markets.

Chiang Mai offers Lanna identity, a creative economy and a strong network of digital talent.

Pattaya and Chonburi connect events with the EEC’s industrial and investment base.

Phuket combines international accessibility with cuisine, wellness and marine experiences.

Other cities can draw on their universities, industries, food, culture, natural assets or specialised knowledge to create distinctive reasons for international organisers to choose them.

Bringing local strengths into the MICE ecosystem is therefore not about making every city the same. It is about connecting the distinct qualities of each destination with the right conventions, exhibitions or incentive travel programmes.

This enables regional cities and businesses to play a direct role in creating products, services, experiences and networks for international markets.

Local Strength does not have to remain in the Local Market when the MICE ecosystem can connect local capabilities with global opportunities.

Every Part of the Ecosystem Helps Give the World a Reason to Choose Thailand

In this context, the Thailand Sales Team extends beyond government agencies.

When international organisers conduct site inspections, the experience they encounter is shaped by many organisations and people working together.

Convention centres and venues demonstrate operational readiness. Hotels provide accommodation and participant experiences. Destination Management Companies, or DMCs, connect programmes with the city.

Professional Convention Organizers, or PCOs, and Professional Exhibition Organizers, or PEOs, help ensure events are delivered to international standards.

Tourist attractions, creative businesses and local communities also contribute by bringing local stories, cuisine, craftsmanship, culture and creativity into the participant experience, helping destinations stand apart from competing cities.

The question is therefore not which organisation is doing the most “selling”.

What matters is how well each part of the system performs its role and connects with the others.

For an international event organiser, the final impression is a single one: whether Thailand can provide the complete support needed to deliver the event successfully.

The Goal Is Not Simply to Win Events, but to Grow Opportunities Together

Winning the right to host a global event is an important achievement, but it should not be the final destination of the Thailand Sales Team.

The true value is created when hosting rights translate into new customers for businesses, greater income and employment for cities, exposure to new standards and technologies for Thai talent, stronger connections between Thai industries and global leaders, and knowledge or partnerships that continue long after participants have returned home.

TCEB therefore views the MICE industry as more than a source of visitor spending and hotel revenue.

International events are platforms for opening markets, building networks, connecting investment and bringing Thailand’s capabilities to the attention of global decision-makers.

The meaning of the “Thailand Sales Team” is not that every organisation must deliver the same message. It is about combining each organisation’s expertise into a stronger national proposition and ensuring that opportunities can flow between tourism, trade, investment, event hosting and destination development.

When government agencies, cities, industries, universities, MICE operators, creative businesses and communities work together, Thailand offers more than venues or destination appeal.

It offers an entire ecosystem capable of turning a single event into opportunities across trade, investment, knowledge exchange, talent development, income generation, employment and urban development.

This is how strengths from across Thailand can be transformed into global business opportunities, investment, destination development and greater national competitiveness.
