From 14 to 17 September 2026, Thailand will welcome one of the world’s most significant energy conferences and exhibitions as Gastech 2026 takes place at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre, or BITEC, in Bangkok.

The event is expected to bring together more than 50,000 energy professionals, over 1,000 exhibiting companies, around 1,000 speakers and participants from more than 150 countries, along with ministers and senior government representatives from over 30 countries.

The international scale of Gastech 2026 gives the event significance far beyond that of a conventional trade exhibition. It brings together policymakers, energy companies, investors, infrastructure developers, technology providers and experts from around the world to address issues affecting economies across virtually every industry, from natural gas and LNG to power generation, hydrogen, low-carbon technologies, and the application of AI and digital infrastructure in the energy sector.

Bangkok’s selection as the host city reflects both Thailand’s readiness to accommodate world-class events and the role of MICE events as platforms connecting the country with key conversations shaping the global energy industry.

From Attracting Global Events to TCEB’s Role as National Bidder

Bringing a global event to Thailand does not begin when the doors of the exhibition centre open. It starts much earlier, with building confidence, coordinating partnerships and positioning Thailand as a capable host destination.

For Gastech 2026, TCEB serves as the National Bidder, representing Thailand in the process of securing hosting rights for an international event.

TCEB worked alongside the Ministry of Energy, event organiser dmg events and partners across Thailand’s energy sector to demonstrate that the country offers not only suitable event venues, but also a strong public and private sector ecosystem capable of supporting a large-scale global event.

The Ministry of Energy has also highlighted TCEB’s important role in helping Thailand secure the opportunity to host Gastech 2026.

Preparations have involved collaboration among the Ministry of Energy, TCEB, dmg events, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, PTT Public Company Limited and other private-sector partners within the industry.

This illustrates the broader meaning of the National Bidder role, which extends beyond simply bringing an event into the country. It connects global events with national strategies, target industries, government agencies, businesses and the MICE ecosystem so that an event can generate longer-term collaboration, investment and new opportunities.

Gastech Brings the Global Energy Network to Thailand

One of Gastech’s key strengths is its combination of a Conference and Exhibition within a single global platform.

The exhibition brings together more than 1,000 companies presenting technologies, services and solutions to executives, policymakers, investors and buyers from around the world.

At the same time, the conference provides a platform for knowledge exchange and discussions on policy directions in energy and technology.

The programme also includes the Strategic Conference, Technical & Commercial Conference, Leadership Roundtables and Supply Chain & Procurement Programme.

These elements extend engagement beyond the conference stage into partnership building, commercial negotiations and connections between suppliers and procurement teams from global energy companies and major infrastructure projects.

For Thai businesses, the event provides direct access to markets that would otherwise often require overseas travel to reach.

Thai companies operating in engineering, energy, technology, digital services, logistics, industrial equipment and professional services, as well as businesses throughout the wider supply chain, can use the event to understand global market standards, explore new technologies, build networks and identify opportunities to participate in future projects.

Benefit One: Economic Value Flowing Through Thailand’s MICE Ecosystem

From the perspective of the MICE industry, one of the most immediate impacts comes from the large number of participants travelling to Thailand.

TCEB estimates that Gastech 2026 will generate at least THB 14.62 billion in economic impact for the country, while creating a long-term Legacy and strengthening Thailand’s capacity to attract international exhibitions in future industries.

The benefits extend well beyond BITEC and the event organiser.

Welcoming more than 50,000 participants generates demand across hotels, transportation, restaurants, professional event organisers, exhibition stand contractors, audiovisual services, registration services, interpreters, on-site personnel, logistics providers and other service businesses throughout the event value chain.

A large-scale event effectively brings an international market directly to Thailand’s MICE businesses, while successfully supporting an event of this scale adds to the experience and track record of Thailand’s MICE ecosystem when competing for future global events.

Benefit Two: Opening Doors to Energy Investment and International Collaboration

The value of Gastech is not defined solely by the number of people travelling to Thailand, but also by who those participants are.

The event will bring together ministers, senior executives from energy companies, investors, technology developers, manufacturers, buyers and experts from multiple countries.

Its programme is designed to support ministerial discussions, bilateral meetings, policy dialogue and business collaboration across LNG, power generation, electrification, infrastructure, AI, digital technologies, low-carbon solutions and future energy systems.

Having these decision-makers gathered in Bangkok gives Thai agencies and businesses direct access to an international audience and a platform to present the country’s capabilities, including its energy market, infrastructure, strategic position within ASEAN and investment opportunities.

The Ministry of Energy also views Gastech 2026 as a platform for expanding international cooperation in areas including energy trade and investment, partnerships in natural gas and the strengthening of Thailand’s energy security.

In this context, MICE events deliver value beyond visitor spending. They serve as Business Infrastructure where policy, investment, technology and businesses can come together in Thailand.

Benefit Three: Bringing Global Knowledge and Technology Closer to Thai Industry

Gastech 2026 is taking place at a time when the global energy industry is addressing multiple challenges simultaneously, including energy security, energy costs, decarbonisation, rising electricity demand, and the rapid expansion of AI and data centres.

One of this year’s highlights is AixEnergy, a dedicated platform focused on AI, digital infrastructure and future energy systems.

It addresses a critical question facing the global economy: how the rapidly growing AI economy can be powered with sufficient, reliable and efficient energy.

This issue is directly relevant to Thailand. In 2026, the country is experiencing significant investment in data centres and data hosting, making the relationship between the digital economy and the energy system increasingly important.

Hosting a global platform of this scale in Thailand brings businesses, engineers, academics, young professionals and Thai organisations closer to emerging knowledge and global trends.

Rather than simply adopting technologies at a later stage, Thailand becomes part of the conversation while technologies, policies and business models are still being shaped.

Benefit Four: Creating Opportunities for Thailand’s Supply Chain

A global exhibition creates lasting value when relationships formed inside the exhibition halls develop into real business opportunities.

Gastech places significant emphasis on Supply Chain & Procurement, creating opportunities for service providers and technology developers to meet procurement teams from EPC companies and major energy companies involved in LNG and energy infrastructure projects around the world.

For Thai companies, this provides opportunities that extend beyond making sales during the event.

Understanding the standards required by international buyers, the technologies gaining market demand, and evolving environmental and safety requirements helps Thai businesses assess their capabilities and strengthen their readiness to participate in international supply chains.

The more effectively the event connects Thai businesses with new buyers, investors and partners, the more its economic value can continue beyond the final day of the exhibition.

Benefit Five: Developing Talent and Advancing the Knowledge Economy

With around 1,000 speakers and tens of thousands of energy professionals gathering in Bangkok, Gastech becomes a major concentration of global knowledge within Thailand.

The Strategic Conference and Technical & Commercial Conference cover areas central to the future of the industry, ranging from EPC and Gas Processing, Low Carbon Solutions and Hydrogen to Shipping & Marine, AI and Digitalisation.

Programmes including Future Leaders and Talent for Energy Transformation also extend this knowledge exchange to the next generation of energy professionals.

The importance of this knowledge goes beyond the number of conference sessions. Its value lies in how insights can be transferred to Thai businesses, educational institutions, professionals and younger generations.

When a global event functions as both a business platform and a learning environment, the MICE industry contributes to the development of a Knowledge Economy driven by expertise, technology and skills, rather than solely by visitor expenditure.

Gastech 2026 Demonstrates the Strength of Thailand’s MICE Ecosystem

An event that welcomes tens of thousands of participants, more than 1,000 companies and representatives from over 150 countries requires much more than a large exhibition venue.

Before the event begins, the host country must coordinate government agencies, industry stakeholders, event organisers, venues, service providers and business networks.

During the event itself, the ecosystem must support exhibitions, conferences, high-level meetings, business negotiations and activities involving participants from around the world.

TCEB therefore views Gastech 2026 as a Showcase of the strength, readiness and flexibility of Thailand’s MICE ecosystem in supporting world-class events.

The event is also intended to contribute to the growth of future industries and strengthen Thailand’s position as a Sustainable Exhibition Hub.

Global event organisers consider far more than the venue itself. They also need confidence that the host destination has partners capable of coordinating, solving problems and supporting the event in achieving its business objectives.

This is where TCEB’s role as National Bidder connects directly with the capabilities of Thailand’s wider MICE ecosystem.

One Event, Creating Value That Continues Beyond the Closing Day

From 14 to 17 September, Gastech 2026 will be a major international energy conference and exhibition taking place in Bangkok.

Beyond those four days, however, the event connects Thailand with the global energy network.

Thailand’s MICE businesses gain valuable experience from supporting an event of this scale. Businesses across the energy industry gain access to buyers and partners. Government agencies and business leaders engage directly with international decision-makers. Thai professionals gain access to new knowledge, while Thailand demonstrates its ability to connect world-class events with target industries and investment opportunities.

The value of Gastech 2026 therefore extends beyond participant numbers, exhibition stands or revenue generated during the four days of the event.

Its longer-term impact is reflected in new business relationships, expanded access to international supply chains, the transfer of knowledge and technology, and the confidence Thailand builds in its ability to attract future global events.

This is the value of TCEB’s role as National Bidder. The role does not end when Thailand secures the right to host an event, but continues through the process of turning that opportunity into broader value for the country.

Gastech 2026 therefore represents far more for Thailand than a major global energy event.

It is a platform where industries and partners from around the world come together across MICE, energy, technology, investment and business collaboration, transforming meetings in Bangkok into opportunities that can continue to generate sustainable value for Thailand long after the event concludes.
